The Caddie: That person who heads up and sets the rules for the accountable relationship.

The Player: That person who listens and respects the rules in the accountable relationship.

In the Book of Deuteronomy, we read, "The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” In the Book of Isaiah we read, "I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron." The caddie in your life must go before you to "make your path straight." The caddie in your life does not go before you physically - but spiritually. Seek out someone who displays wisdom - not knowledge - life experience. You might want to even choose someone who doesn't measure up to you in class or intellect.

For our purposes, accountability is a “partnership” between two people that are of the same sex - biologically. Let’s make that clear! We equate this to the relationship the professional golfer has with a professional caddie. In a proper accountability partnership, you will find two allies of one mind. Golf and Life are the only games where a caddie, ally, partner, mentor, therapist, and friend all wrapped up in one is allowed on the field of play
